Sorry for the delay! We’re back and ready to go over last month’s screenshots. July’s #screenshotSaturday posts featured a lot of new house areas in Children of Liberty as the cleanup process started to get polished. We also showed off the power of Mondrian Maker’s new painting tools. Let’s take a look!

July’s Mondrian – Plastic Reality screenshot showed the big, new feature we released with EX4 – Painting Tools! These tools let you color blocks any color in the RGB spectrum, and you can even use them to create less abstract pieces, like characters, still lives, and more. For our first example, we built Mario from Super Mario World on Super Nintendo! Here’s a Speedpaint video showing off this level’s creation.

As the cleanup process started to really take shape, we decided to polish up a few of our scenes to test out new assets. In particular, the Indian Corn and Semitransparent Windows. Thanks to Unity 2018’s improved rendering technology, we’re able to experiment with greater detail on our windows, not just in terms of semi-transparency, but also reflectivity! We’re playing around with a lot of awesome new features, nothing’s set in stone yet, but we’re loving the way it’s looking so far.

Another screenshot from a polished house, this time showing off lots of new assets, including China teacups, a braided rug, brand new wallpapers, a horn, vases, paintings… you name it, we’ve got it.

The same room as before, but from a different angle. This one shows off our new floral wallpaper in greater detail, as well as a good look at how we’re applying color to objects to give a greater sense of variety (see: curtains). It’s a system that is surprisingly similar to what we use in Mondrian to apply color there.

August Preview

So far in August we’ve been showing off some new assets in-depth, as well as other new Mondrian features! This is likely to continue for these next couple weeks as Team Summer 2018 rolls to a close. We will also have a new Children of Liberty – State of the Game post this Fall to recap everything this incredible group of students achieved this Summer. Make sure to follow our Instagram for the latest #screenshotsaturday posts. As always, if you’d like to support Lantana Games, don’t forget to pick up a copy of Children of Liberty Early AccessMondrian – Abstraction in Beauty, or the newly released Mondrian – Plastic Reality Early Access on Steam or itch.io. You can also grab a t-shirt, coffee mug, notebook, poster, or whatever else you’d like at our Redbubble Shop! Every little bit helps!
